Digitales Arbeiten

Künstlerische Herangehensweisen an das digitale Arbeiten im Medienverbund Audio, Video, Computer
Philipp Haupt

What are contemporary modes of media production within the department of Landschaftskunst? What are the artistic issues involving digital technology today? What about the historical traditions of the „Aufschreibesysteme“ we work with?

The course is intended to convey basic audio/video/computer skills through practical training and theoretical examination. The goal is to encourage and support individual practices by using and understanding digital media. The focus will foremost be on hands-on production, aesthetic articulation, some kind of critical thinking and maybe also a little bit of experimentation. Starting point will be the tools that are at hand, kind of everything but social media; that are offered by the department and/or that seem most suitable for specific projects. So yes, some of the buzzwords next semester will be: 4k, 48000hz, 25 frames.

While the core time will be spent on video and audio production and editing (plus the computer as such), we should not forget how the material will be presented: in an installation, a projection, a performance,…
there will also be some emphasis on the (post)post-production.

every Friday 4:00 - 6:00 pm

The course has a limited number of places available, please enroll by sending an email to: Philipp.Haupt@uni-ak.ac.at
